Obituary of William D. Bechdel

BECHDEL - William D. "Bill"
Of Cheektowaga, NY, passed away December 31, 2022, at age 71. Bill was born August 8, 1951, in Erie, PA to William H. and Donna L. Bechdel, who both preceded him in death. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Diane M. (Chimera) Bechdel; his seven children, W. Ryan Bechdel (Kristen M. Rickey Bechdel), Jennifer K. Bechdel (John Maugle), Sarah Marie Bechdel (Kevin Whittier), Jennifer (David) Sedia, Colleen (Joseph) English, Nicole (Daniel) Tryon, and Alyssa (Matt) Calhoon. Bill was a devoted grandfather to 17 grandchildren that also survive him: Jessica L. Craig, Kelly A. Bechdel, W. Jackson Bechdel, W. Hayden Bechdel, Freya Evangeline Maugle, Theo Evander Maugle, Bradyn McCoy Whittier, Sawyer Malloy Whittier, Cameron Webb, Joseph English, Hanah Sedia, Alexa English, Austin Majewski, Connor Sedia, Brayden Tryon, Olivia Tryon and Mila Burdzy. Bill graduated from Iroquois High School, Erie, PA, in 1970, and went on to study Electrical Engineering Technology. He worked most recently as Customer Support Administrator at GF Machining Solutions. Bill was the bedrock of his family and relished being a grandfather and celebrating his grandchildren's milestones both big and small. He enjoyed playing volleyball in a local club, watching Bills games, was amazing at Jeopardy, and had great taste in music. One of his greatest qualities was his open mind and heart. He also really loved his dogs, Oscar, Stella, and Rosie. No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
