I recently heard of Ralph's passing and was greatly saddened. I had not talked with him for several years, about the time he retired and moved close to his daughter. It was my pleasure to work with Ralph in the 1980s at Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg, NJ. We made an interesting pair (a New Yorker and a hillbilly (me)) working on an ASME technical paper together that was published/presented in 1984. I had tremendous respect for his analytical capabilities and he was greatly missed after he left PA for NY in the mid 1980s. People, especially men, allow geographic locations and different career paths to cause friends to loose contact or to rarely speak by phone, but I always considered Ralph to be a good friend and a great guy. My wish for his family is to remember the good times together and know that Ralph's peers appreciated him and his friendship.
