Obituary of Darleen C. Capwell

Darleen C. Capwell, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Buffalo General Hospital.  

Darleen was born on May 10, 1961, in Batavia, NY, to David and Dianne (Cummings) Burns. 

She was married to the late Anthony “Tony” Capwell for 44 years and is survived by her three beloved children, Jessica (Marion) Franks, Christopher (Trish) Muniak, and Jenilee (John) Bernardini; her treasured grandchildren, Wade and Macey, Emma and Ethan, and Elijah, Josiah and Judah; her sister, Christeen (Bill) Alexander; her brothers, David (Lisa) Burns, Ronnie (Cindy) Spears and Gary (Jessica) Spears; her great aunt, Kathy Glade; her second set of parents, Ron (Joann) Spears; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Growing up, Darleen enjoyed spending time playing outside on the farm with her siblings and friends. Her love of sewing started at a young age when she would sew clothes for her dog. Darleen graduated from Pembroke High School in 1979.  She was a longstanding resident of Darien, NY.  Darleen had been working at Corfu Machine, Inc. for the past 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, walking, biking, gardening, photography, spending time outdoors, and was the most amazing Nana to her grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at the family home in Corfu. There will be a service at 2:00pm with a potluck dinner immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compass Care in Buffalo, NY.
